#PinoyPride: A Filipina graduates with flying colors at Wharton School

A Filipina named Lara Andrea Montales gave us another reason to celebrate our being Pinoy after graduating summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. 

In a news report from the Manila Bulletin, the 21-year-old Filipina graduate finally earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Economics Major in Finance and Business Analytics with an impressive grade point average (GPA) ranging from 3.80 and 4.00.

According to the Filipino Times, Lara Andrea Montales entered the prestigious school in 2014. Since then, she really put a lot of effort and worked hard to maintain being a Dean’s Lister.

In addition to her outstanding resume, she went to Morgan Stanley, an American multinational investment bank and financial services company, as an intern in Singapore prior to her graduation.

But, before she pursued her tertiary education outside the Philippines, Montales already got what it takes to earn the coveted Latin honor. She became the class valedictorian of the Colegio San Agustin in Makati City during elementary while she graduated with flying colors in high school at the Philippine Science High School ( Main Campus). 

She also represented the country and brought home medals from numerous international mathematics competitions. She trained under the Mathematics Trainers Guild Philippines (MTG).

After staying here in the country for elementary and secondary education, she tried her luck to secure an opportunity to study abroad. As a matter of fact, she produced a high score of 2260 during the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT). As a result, she received an eligibility to apply in all the 1366 higher educational institutions in the United States.

Following her glorious achievement, Lara Andrea Montales will be taking a vacation in the Philippines this month before starting her job at a corporate turnaround and restructuring driven consulting firm in Chicago later this year.
