Three decades may have passed but married couple Luis and Elvie Marquez still consider their relationship as a “perfect match” made from heaven. On the June 24 episode of “ASAP’s segment “The Love Connection”, Luis and Elvie shared how the two of them met.
According to them, they first met at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines where they both studied college. Coincidentally, Elvie found out that she and Luis share a lot of common things.
“First year kami parehas. I noticed na we share the same birthday. Tapos naging magkaibigan kami, doon ko nalaman na parehas pala kaming third among the siblings.”

Eventually, they started dating and became an official couple on July 1, 1982. During that time they were both third-year college.
Moreover, the couple shared that banana split served as “witness” in their relationship. As for Luis, this is the food that they usually eat every time they have a date.
Furthermore, when they were already preparing for their wedding, Elvie found out that she and her husband does not only share the same birthday. But, they were also born in the same hospital.
“Naniniwala ako na siya ang destiny ko kasi noong nag-apply kami ng marriage license, sabi nung clerk, ‘Ma’am ‘di lang kayo magka-birthday, magka-ospital pa.”

According to the clerk, Luis is just a few hours older than Elvie. With that, Elvie shared that it’s safe to say that they already met inside the nursery room. A destiny indeed!
However, Luis and Elvie’s seemingly perfect relationship has also had its fair share of hurdles and trials. Nevertheless, the two remained steadfast in their relationship.

On the latter part of their interview, Luis told Elvie:
“Palakasin pa natin lalo ‘yong relationship natin. I love you.”
Meanwhile, Elvie replied:
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa ‘yo kasi minahal mo kami kahit ano’ng problema ang dumating sa atin. I love you, too.”
Because of this, “ASAP” TLC singers Angeline Quinto, Erik Santos, Daryl Ong, and Kyla sang David Pomeranz ‘s iconic song “Born For You” for the couple.
