“Wish Ko Lang” extends help to janitress with three mentally challenged children

It’s sad to know that there are elderly people who continue to work hard in order to provide the needs of their family. Take for example the touching story of Nanay Violeta Bolivar from Bogo, Cagayan de Oro City. On the latest episode of “Wish Ko Lang”, we found out that despite her old age, Nanay Violeta works as a janitress in their municipal hall.

14 years ago, all of her three children suffered from mental health problems. In addition, her husband became sickly, which hindered his ability to work.  Since then, Nanay Violeta became the bread winner of their family.

Her daughter An-an frequently gets mad without prior reasons.

At the same time, her son Jomar chose to stay in dark room, along with some chicken that he got from their neighbors.

Among the three children of Violeta, only her son Jojo has the ability to talk properly. In an interview, with the “Wish Ko Lang” team, he admitted that he is suffering from depression. He shared that financial problems triggered his illness.

One day, Nanay Violeta’s goddaughter Christine, who is currently based abroad contacted her. It’s good to know despite being miles away, the kind “inaanak” never forgets to extend some help for her “ninang”. It turned out, it was actually Christine who sent the letter to “Wish Ko Lang”.

After learning the pitiful situation of Nanay Violeta the city government of Cagayan de Oro, gave their hardworking janitress some grocery products in order for her to open her own sari-sari store. In addition, the “Wish Ko Lang” team gave them sacks of rice.

Not only that, the “Wish Ko Lang” team brought Nanay Violeta’s children to the Capitol Medical Center for a checkup.

According to Dr. Benson Go, the psychiatrist who checked the siblings, they have Schizophrenia a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to understand reality.

“Schizophrenia is hereditary talaga. Kung may kapatid ka na may Schizophreniamay 12% chance ka na magkakaroon.”

Nevertheless, the good doctor assured the Bolivar family that they should not lose hope. In fact, if the medical assistance of the siblings will continue, there is still a big chance for them to restore their old selves.

As recommended, Jomar and An-an are advised to stay in House for Hope Inc., a mental facility for six months. On the other hand, Jojo is to stay at their house.

In the latter part of the video, Nanay Violeta expressed her heartfelt gratitude for those who helped her.
