Kickert admits that his actions against Gilas Pilipinas were “regrettable”

As soon as the Australian Boomers landed on their home country, a flock of reporters bombarded the boys with questions regarding their infamous basket-brawl against Gilas Pilipinas. The man receiving the most heat was Daniel Kickert.

The 6-foot-9 man expressed his remorse on the “ugly” incident.

“I think I overstepped a little bit with my response to the escalation in the game. I regret those things.”

The tension on the court was already brewing as early as the warm-ups, with Kickert allegedly pushing Matthew Wright and other Gilas players. Fast-forward to the third quarter when the Aussie threw an elbow at Roger Pogoy that sparked the fiasco in the Arena.

“I was put in a position I think where I obviously made an action which is regrettable, and unfortunate. It would have been a good win, I think, it ended poorly with a bit of a controversial issue, obviously.”
