Many people aspiring to be the country’s next singing sensation use “Tawag ng Tanghalan” as an avenue to showcase their vocal prowess. Amateur singers face the criticism of judges including the head judge, Rey Valera. In a recent episode, Jaya expressed her disagreement with Rey’s decision to eliminate a contestant.
Fayce Fajardo tried to impress the audience by singing her own rendition of “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.” However, Rey Valera seemed unimpressed with her performance. Before Fayce could even finish her piece, Rey shockingly stopped her from continuing.
“It’s Showtime” host Jhong Hilario followed Rey’s instruction to “gong” the young contestant. As a result, Fayce will no longer compete in “Tawag ng Tanghalan.” She is also the first contestant to eliminated in its current season.
Without hesitation, fellow hurado Jaya expressed her disagreement with Rey’s decision. She said she found nothing wrong about the aspiring singer’s performance. The soul singer added that she thought Fayce has a “pretty solid voice.”
“I really loved your voice. I thought it was pretty solid. For your age talagang syempre may konting uncertainty at unsureness kasi contest ito, milyon milyon ang nanunuod but I thought you sounded good.”
Jaya said that despite this, she respect’s Rey’s decision of removing Fayce from the competition as he is the head judge. Then, she advised the young contestant to pick a different song she can relate to next time.
Ultimately, Jaya wished the young contestant luck and encouraged her to come back and try again. Upon hearing Jaya’s commendation, Fayce’s face clearly lit up.
