Nonito Donaire and wife Rachel opens restaurant in San Diego, California

Just like other successful athletes, “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire Jr. finally decided to use his earnings to build a business. Just recently, the seven-time world boxing champion and his wife Rachel Marcial opened a restaurant called Dominic’s Table at La Jolla Village in San Diego, California.

In an interview with TFC Balitang America, the couple shared how they came up with the idea of having a food business. Nonito was quoted as to saying:

“We ventured into something that’s fulfilling in terms of love, in terms of connections, in terms of how people are, and just the comfort and how my kids they love it. Just the overall things have been tremendous.”

Meanwhile, as for Rachel, she believes that Dominic’s Table would be a one-stop restaurant for people who have different tastes in food. She said:

We have to nourish ourselves. All of us have different tastes in food, and that’s what Dominic’s Table does bring to the community. It’s a fusion of a lot of different backgrounds. And the head chef has his own flair.”

In addition, Rachel said that there are pork dishes and even sushi on the menu. Delectable pizza flavors for the picky kids and a full bar for the adults would also be available. But one thing that their customers should look forward to (and figure out) is the “Nonito’s knockout dish!”

According to the source, this up and coming restaurant basically offers an international menu that has been a hit among renowned celebrities from Las Vegas and Hollywood.

Moreover, the couple shared that they enjoy their new business, as well as its venue. Rachel said that the community is great, very refreshing, and reviving.

“The ocean is a calming and healing entity. I think in this kind of environment, this style of restaurant which is family-oriented will really thrive in this community.”

Although the renowned boxing champ is currently busy with his business, he assured his fans that there are no future plans of retiring from the ring.

It’s discipline and at the same time enjoying every moment that I have to spend time with friends and family. And when it’s time to work, it’s time to work. I’ve never had a problem with weight. I’m actually quite excited to go down in weight.”

For now, Nonito is preparing for the upcoming world boxing super series tournament that will happen this fall.
