“People’s Champ” Senator Manny Pacquiao earned the praise of Filipinos worldwide once again after he knocked Argentine brawler Lucas Matthysse down during their recently concluded world title match held at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, today. However, just like his other fights, Manny’s mother Dionisia has also caught the attention of the netizens.
On the video posted by a certain Mustapha Alauya on Facebook, the 69-year-old Mrs. Pacquiao was spotted sitting at the ringside. To point out, she is holding a rosary and a piece of paper — while doing a religious ceremony designed to put Manny’s foe off.

As seen in the video, it seems like Mommy D can’t help but get carried away while watching the intense fight. Moreover, while Manny is diligently throwing power punches to Matthysse, Mommy D is also throwing punches into the air while uttering her prayers.
In an interview with the press, yesterday, Manny’s supportive mother shared how she motivated her son to do well on today’s fight.
“Ang sabi ko kay Manny, payagan niya lang akong hawakan siya sa ulo para maipagdasal ko siya. Malaki ang nagagawa ng dasal ng ina sa anak niya. Kunsabagay, madasalin naman si Manny, matindi ang paniniwala niya sa ating Panginoon.”

In 2015, we all can recall that Mommy D expressed her desire for Manny to stop boxing. In an interview, she said:
“Ang anak ko hindi manok, tao siya. Pero sa kalagayan niya, sa akin, ayoko na ata lumaban ang anak ko. Tama na. Stop na siya. Gusto ko stop na siya.”
As a mother, it’s understandable where Mommy Dionisia is coming from. As we all know, Manny is already approaching his 40’s and he is preoccupied with works as a public servant.
