Nowadays, millennials tend to believe that there is no such thing as “forever” in a relationship. This is probably because they have experienced a traumatic relationship in the past or they are one of those people who happened to be products of a broken family. Nevertheless, despite the negative notion of many about entering a romantic relationship, there are still a lot of couples who will prove to us that “true love” indeed exists. Although there is no such thing as “forever” in this world, still spending a lifetime with your partner is possible. Take for example this “kilig” to the bones love story of Tatay Ikko (Francisco), 92, and his beloved wife Nanay Turyang (Victoria), 94, who will teach us how to know if we have chosen the right person to spend the rest of our life with.
According to the Facebook post of their granddaughter, Valeree Joy Rillon, the lovely couple have been together for 62 years. With such a long period of time, they were blessed with 6 beautiful daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
However, just last May, Nanay Turyang has suddenly diagnosed with stage four uncontrolled malformed growth of the cell in the stomach. Sadly, on July 4, the 94-year-old woman left this world, leaving her dearest husband who made a promise saying:
“Don’t worry, I will be joining you there soon.”

Based on the post of the netizen, Tatay Ikko never let go of Nanay Turyang ever since they found out that the latter is terminally ill. Case in point, the 92-year-old man was heard uttering the words to his wife:
“I cannot take seeing you suffering. If letting you rest in God will ease your pain, even if it hurts, then I choose to let you go.”
According to Valeree, she personally witnessed her grandparents’ outstanding love for each other. That’s why she can’t help but get sad for her bereaved lolo. Two days after her lola left this world, she sat beside her Tatang and curiously asked how their love story started. From there, Tatang Ikko sweetly reminisced every detail of their love story. He narrated:
“Your Inang had two men pursuing her that time…but it didn’t matter to me and so I decided to pursue her too. She is so beautiful. I had 3 women that I like that time also, but I chose your Inang. Eventually, she chose me among the two men. Maybe because I was always helping her father in the farm.”

Upon hearing their love story, the millennial apo wasted no time and immediately wrote her thoughts about it. She then came up with the idea of how someone would know that they have chosen the right person to be their partner for life.
“The moment you say “I DO.” at the altar, he/she is the one. So before stepping in on that wedding aisle, make sure you made that LOVE DECISION by your godly choice. Embrace who you choose.”
Moreover, she explained that her Tatang could have chosen one of those three women. But instead, the old man chose her Inang. At the same time, her Inang could have chosen one of those two men, but she chose to be with her Tatang Ikko.
Furthermore, she elaborated that marrying your “The One” is like buying a house, whatever is the outcome while living in that house, you should learn to embrace everything. This is the same with treating your lifetime partner.

On the latter part of her post, she then encouraged another married couple to learn to pray for their spouses. At the same time, learn to submit their relationship to God who is the Author and Orchestrator of everything here on Earth.
In the final analysis, the netizen shared that marriage is not everyone’s ultimate purpose nor goal in life. Instead, our purpose in life is to glorify God and to love His people!
