One of the most famous commercial of McDonald’s that most Filipinos know very well is that commercial with Karen and her grandfather. Karen’s lolo mistakenly calls her Gina when she arrives with their food. They were eating at McDonald’s and before Karen’s lolo ate his burger, he kept half of it saying, “Ito, para sa paborito kong apo, si Karen.”
Another form of advertisement is having a slogan. Before, here in the Philippines, McDonald’s’ tagline is “Kitakits sa McDo” before changing it to “Love ko ‘to.” These lines will always be associated with McDonald’s.
Companies and brands, including McDonald’s also hired celebrities or influencers in promoting their products. These celebrities have fans that they could greatly influence in buying their endorsed products which also makes the product more popular.
In a recent viral post by Nilawan Iamchuasawad, a Thai social media influencer, posted photos of her on Instagram, with username @kkaimuk,wearing a tank top with McDonald’s on it. She posed differently in her pictures with her french fries from McDonald’s. Her Instagram post gained different comments and netizens dicussed whether it was an official McDonald’s endorsement or not.
Nevertheless, Nilawan Iamchuasawad looked beautiful in her photos.
